L & K’s wedding is just around the corner—only ONE week away!
I can’t wait to capture their big celebration, but I feel so honored that I also got to be part of their elopement, not just as their photographer, but as their witness. It was intimate, emotional, and a reminder that love doesn’t need an audience to be powerful.
Their venue, Park Chapel, was the sweetest surprise for their Roanoke elopement. I had no idea what to expect, but from the moment I stepped inside, I knew it was special. The rustic exterior gave way to an interior filled with warmth, history, and most beautifully—pride. It was the perfect space for L & K to say "I do," even though they weren’t sure at first just how romantic their elopement would feel. The Pastor even had a slide on the TV on behind them with their names in a gorgeous script, perfect for a wedding.
Here’s what I always tell couples: no matter how big or small, how elaborate or simple your wedding day is, the real magic is in that moment when you look into your partner’s eyes and promise forever. That’s the part that gives me chills—right before it makes me tear up.
As they stood together at the altar, hands intertwined, I watched them steal little glances and soft smiles. Then came the vows. And the hand squeeze. And that look—the one where the whole world fades away, and it’s just the two of them. It was pure romance.
While Park Chapel recently held its final service on March 30th before closing its doors, its spirit of love and inclusion will live on. The congregation made the decision to merge with another church that shares its commitment to equality, creating an even stronger sense of community.
Knowing that L & K were part of its story before it closed makes their elopement feel even more meaningful.
Now, as their bigger wedding day approaches, I can’t help but feel grateful that I got to be there for both the quiet, just-us moment and the upcoming celebration with all their loved ones. Because love? It’s worth celebrating in every way possible.
